Clemens
(Maria) Brentano (*1774 Ehrenbreitstein † 1842 Aschaffenburg) is the most
fascinating among the creators and poets of the later German romance. Its ballad
“faithful dear, faithful dear is lost” stands before us with the matter of
course of the completed work of art. Faithful-dear, the drive-possessed
“Dirne” (prostitute), becomes for the poet the symbol of female life
solidarity far beyond all civil form and delimitation. And that it faithfully
loving and on all ways and to go astray of amorous adventures in the necrophilia
and sow-anise-CH-metaphysical steadily pursuing poets becomes beside its shape
the symbol of a narrowing, compelling and raping dear term. As the poet presents
itself as the dreamer, who after-hunts for a presumed illusion over the loving
to last, he succeeds in reducing the tragic end in the ironical and to give its
seal the wise conciliatory clay/tone, which she leaves in the memory of the
reader.
Certainly
neither the man in his over-crept loyalty still the woman in their are
untouchables without size, raised over all moral and all bad. In it the ballad
of faithful-dear uncommonly is modern that she through-arranges human
possibilities into last consequences inside.
