Janssen, Horst
born: 14.11.1929
died: 31.08.1995
Horst Janssen mostly made drawings, etchings, lithographs and woodcuts. By his own images, thus he depicts with extreme accuracy nightmares and mysterious realities. The statements he makes open and at the same time accomplished by macabre poetry.
From 1945 to 1951, Janssen studied at the village art school in Hamburg.
In 1951 he won a grant of the Hansestadt Hamburg, in 1957 a grant cultural
field in the Federal Association of German Industry.
In 1965, he was nominated as Professor. It was the Academy for Educating
and Arts in Hamburg, but he declined the position.
One off exhibitions by Janssen resulted in all large cities at home and abroad; for example, in December 1965 he staged at the Kestner-Society in Hannover one of the first and biggest of Janssen's create.
In 1964, Janssen received the Art Prize from the City of Darmstadt "First International Drawing".
The drawing in his creations captivates a considerable place.
Janssen signed more his own face. In nervous, peculiarly excited
portraits of faces, he implacably documents.
The arguments give him scepticism and simultaneous fascination.
