Folon worked as a designer, he also dealt with the creation of sculptures. Also, the glass painting interested him.
In 1955, he cancels his architectural studies and devoted himself to drawing and fantastical watercolors, which are seen in this exhibition as a watercolor prints.
Jean-Michel Folon became internationally known in the 1960s through his illustrations of works by international writers such as Franz Kafka, Prévert, Boris Vian or Maupassant et Bradbury, as well as posters and advertisement designs.
Among other things, the Olivetti (typewriters) advertising campaigns of the 1950s and 1960s are marked by his handwriting and showed his handwriting in many poster collections. He also outlined a variety of newspaper and magazine articles (including Time magazine) with its accompanying theme illustrations which were also often used as title also he made as a set designer and gestallter a name .. His works are frequently seen in a light and subtle as well as surrealistic and melancholic watercolors and pen techniques.
Folon works, watercolors, sculptures and paintings are represented in all the well-known museums of the world, including the 1990 retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York. Jean-Michel Folon will sign a statement from Amnesty International for Human Rights in 1988.
