In
1964, Professor Chin-San Long attended a Federation International De'L
Art Photographic(FIPA)Conference and found himself the only Asian Photographer
at the event. He then corresponded with fellow Asian photographers to form a
regional organization with same objectives and mutual interests regarding
photography.
The
organization, blessed by the fellow Federation are to provide a forum for Asian
photographers to get together to study photographic techniques, as well as
promoting the arts related to photography.
FAPA
holds congresses once every two year. Each and every member country territories
takes turn to host the event. Photographic tours, seminars ,lectures and
exhibitions were organized during these congresses.
The
next Congress will be held in Singapore, in mid Dec 2002, with the Photo-Art
Association of Singapore as the host.,,,
Recent
SGI Exhibitions
* Photo Exhibition in
Taiwan. SGI-Taiwan
sponsored a photo exhibition of the works of noted photographer Long Chin-San
at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei, Taiwan, from June 23. The event,
described by critics as "very rare" and "precious,"
commemorates the renowned artist who passed away last April at the age of 105.
Photographs by other Taiwanese and overseas Chinese artists were also on display.
