Maywald, Willy 1907-1985, 

Biography

Willy Maywald was born August 15, 1907, in Cleve, Germany. From 1925 on
he attended art schools in Cologne, Krefeld and Berlin. In 1931 he went to Paris 
and soon became one of the city's outstanding photographers. From 1942 to 1946
he lived in Switzerland, where he made his name as a portrait photographer. He
returned to Paris in 1946.

Publications 

  Newspapers also began to feature fashion. Models were beginning to attain celebrity status as icons of beauty.  

New, young photographers were vital. Maywald heard to the young avantgarde] in the thirties of the 1900 century. Injecting energy and redefining the acceptable boundaries of taste and nudity

Sabine Weiss 1924/born in Saint Gingolph, Switzerland and studied in Geneva. 1938/father introduces her to photography. 1942-45/apprenticeship with Paul Boissonnas. 1945/receives her photographer's  diploma. 1946/ moves to Paris. 1946-50/assistant to fashion photographer Willy Maywald.
