Mel Ramos studied of 1953 until 1954 art and art history at the Sacramento junior College, and 1954-58 at the Sacramento
State College.
Under the influence of the artits Bay Area, Nathan Oliveira and David Park Ramos painted with end of the fifties abstract pictures.
1961 he began comic-Strip-characters to paint.
1961- 1963   he concentrates itself on comic-Strip-characters like Wonder Woman.
1964 first singles exhibition at Bianchini Gallery in New York. In the same year he made female figures in pin-up magazines.
1972 file, through influence the artist like Ingres, Modigliani, Manet and de Kooning.

Into the eighties itself turned Ramos the topic of the countryside.
He worked with a factory-group with the title "The artist in his studio" .
